I'm happy the information I posted actually helps the wiki, since the reason I'm posting is to keep the english-speaking fanbase interested in the new 17ki members! Of course I love them all, but also I want them to help bring AKB back to spotlight even just a little. Had just watched some of the videos linked above (thank you @donjonnie for linking them) and wanted to write some things I noticed about the girls by watching them ^^ The first thing is: These girls literally don't seem like they are Kenkyuusei. I don't think if this is because of their training period that they had since February (?) but overall their performance is really good. Of course there are some mistakes here and there, but these are almost imperceptible. AKB this time brought already above average-good girls, specially if comparing to older Kenkyuusei...a while ago we had REALLY unprepared girls debuting. For me, Niinan and Yukitan (Ota Yuki) were the girls who stood out the most. Niinan seemed like she had been performing on stage for a good time, and Yukitan surprised me A LOT, like, for real. When the members were revealed, she didn't stand out at all for me, but lately I've been finding her genuinely pretty, and now with these performances all that I can say is that she rocks. For me she did really well, with captivating expressions and not demonstrating any sign of nervousness. Aichan and Sorara didn't surprise me because they already have that "performer aura", but it looked like they were really comfortable standing on the stage, and having lots of fun. Hotechan is a literal princess. I mean, the way she smiles, her soft moves...she is beyond delicate and cute. I indeed like this girl. Erichan, despite the clear nervousness, was really cute and enjoyable to watch, she also showed having fun. Adorable as heck. She also has an attractive awkwardness (which isn't a bad thing, but an appealing one). Don't exactly know what to talk about Mayuuchan aside than she did well and didn't express nervousness. For me, Yukinee (Hirata Yuki), Nozomi and Mizumin were the ones who semeed the most nervous, but they also did good, it's something that will develop over time. Not a bad point because this is what, their third or fourth public performance (excluding the zenza ones)? Can't recall if their theater debut (with Oogoe Diamond) had audience. I left Kokone last because...well, her non-smiling "character" doesn't let me give her good comments. Okay, she's an introvert, she's bad at smiling, but sometimes it just feels not natural. Maybe some people can dislike mine statements, but watching her gives the impression that she's trying her best NOT to smile...if someone's bad at something, they should try to improve and become good on that thing, right? But Kokone's "bad smiling skills" don't seem natural. I'm not saying that she has to start smiling and being cheerful or something like this, because it is interesting to see idols with different attitudes, but if she really wants to keep this as her chara, she has to develop more naturality. Otherwise, she is really pretty. That's it. Actually I don't expect anyone to read this, but I wanted to write my opinions about today's performance firstly because we couldn't watch the popfes one, and because I really like these girls. They are incredible and most of them already perform good.
haha I totally was digging through tons of Kokko fan photos for the Summer Station and this one is the only smile I found, the rest are 95% flat face lol In the beginning I also thought she tries hard to make a character, I think that's common, even Zunchan said she had this Burikko chara back when she started. Might even net her some niche-loving fans like Paruru did, leading to some jobs. Now I kinda believe it's really her personality. tbh right now I love to see the gap of energy and smile between her and her batchmate during performance. It's just endearing But I also agree that she has to improve on the smiling part, if you just focus on her it's really jarring sometimes. What princess fanatically reads violent comic like Chainsaw-man and gets addicted to Cola and RedBull?? /Jk I love Hotechan too Ironically? Kokko is the most kenkyuusei-like skill and expression-wise I heard the training is quite tough, with lots of events prepared for them they gotta train a lot in-between. Hopefully some footage gets into a documentary somewhere. This is personal take but kenkyuusei and to some extent "fresh" members always caught my eyes because they always go 110% energy when performing in any chance given. While some of the more established members sometimes feels like they don't do that anymore for events that don't require them. (exceptions are concerts usually) It's like they are on energy-saving mode sometimes Maybe it's their 213th time doing the same song or attending similar event but yeah I personally want to see the full energy when watching AKB performance. I agree with the rest of your points, thank you for paying attention to them! ------------- NemousuTV Season 39 Episode 3 Summary "How is it actually? 17th gen Image check!!" Only 8 members here at first, but Yukitan joins later, and Niinan next episode. While Aichan did a separate take and got edited in. MC is Ijiri Okada and the topic is "How is it actually? 17th gen Image check!!" They asked 17ki members to internally rank themselves by topics/image, higher the rank higher the points they'll get. They also ask 130 random people on the street to rank them, just based on their 17ki profile pics, name, age, and height. It's all about image after all. First topic is "Who looks the strongest?" Some interesting tidbits I found : Mayuuchan is assumed to be the strongest internally since she has been doing rhythmic gymnastics for 11 years while Kokko is assumed by public to be the strongest since being tallest = more muscle (???) Aichan is remarked by Mayuu to often hug too strongly (like a pro wrestler) and her sharp chin can pierce the hugged target lol Mizumin is remarked by random person to look like Akimoto Sayaka, so she must be strong So to decide who's the strongest, they gotta prove it by breaking the tiles. As a reference, Hotechan here can break 2 tiles. Yukitan and Niinan already did theirs before the take, and Aichan got edited in. Who do you think is the strongest among 17ki ? Spoiler: Spoiler- Answer Sorara wins with 6 broken tiles! Second topic is "Who looks the fastest?" This time Mizumin took 1st place for both the assumption from the internal and random public. She has the experience of being in Track and Field club for about 6 years (junior High 1st year to Highschool 3rd year) The only way to prove it is through a 50m run contest! Yukitan joined them at this stage. Erichan and Mayuuchan have the feeling that they can beat Mizumin's time here: Niinan did the running take before others and set the bar low at 10.25 seconds BTW Japan nationwide average for Highschool girls 50m run is 8.89 seconds. This time Sorara, Aichan, and Erichan got chance to talk. Spoiler: Watch the episode first for max fun! Some of the rules discussed : Smartphone total ban for kenkyuusei and how the senpais are the one "enforcing" it. the difference is that now 17ki are allowed to use phone only to view the VTR for dance practices. ----- Sorara brought up the bus seating rule, she carefully chose her words In the bus, Kenkyuusei are supposed to sit in the extra, foldable seats if there's no seat available. However reality is not so simple, senpai members often sit individually and having their bags/things overflow a bit into the empty seat making it harder to ask if it's fine to sit beside them. Just pulling the extra foldable seat at that point is also a bit complex since it might be seen as not wanting to sit next to the senpais. Japanese's social hierarchy at work here. Either the senpai have to be kind enough to call the kouhai to sit or the kouhai gotta get close enough to be comfortable asking. -- Aichan brought up the shoes rule in the lesson area. Kenkyuusei members have to separate between outdoor and lesson shoes for the lesson area. Regular members have a bit more "freedom" on that It was joked that this might bring "ire" from other members thus Aichan might lose her shoes soon --- Erichan brought up the no-present-for Kenkyuusei rule. Kenkyuusei can receive fan-letters but not presents. Erichan said she moved from Osaka basically bringing nothing so some daily life items as presents would be nice
I couldn't agree more. Aichan has been selected by management as the girl to push, obviously, but I've also been drawn in by Sorara's performance. Niina especially strikes me as a professional, it's probably because she's used to having eyes on her as a former streamer, but it's still different with real people right in front of you. These girls are really good and I'm glad they came to AKB48

Also featuring Hinako from Team 8. if the video does not show watch the video here They show off their personal skills, (we saw this in 17ken episode 1 too) Yuki : Eating sour lemon (haven't tried other sour food) without changing expression Mizumin : Baton twirling (she's been practicing from 2 y.o. to highschool, 15 years!) Then it's time for Wake-up dokkiri (surprise prank)! Except they've been notified beforehand. More points to the cuter things found (subjective lol) Yuki : Her things are neatly arranged and she sleeps with eye-cover and bare-footed. her only issue is having food next to her on the bed. She says this is for eating right after waking up (no need for reheating) She doesn't reheat some type of food even if there's a microwave, just eat it at current temperature. no idea if this is real or just for variety purpose though! Mizumin :Her things are also neatly arranged. Apparently she usually sleeps holding a pillow on her face and bare-footed she also wears the same pajama she wears at home (also was in 17ken episode 4, a set with Kokko, her futon-mate) Highlight of this section is the feet reveal!! /jk The next two sections (eating super sour ramen and inserting thread to needle while on vibration machine) are best experienced in video so watch them. I think you can still slightly see it in the hanashikai photo too, there's a little purple bit on her lower right eye (right eye from our perspective). Maybe it's a stye?

I watched some of the summer station free cam videos. Can't wait to see the full performance. I can't help but be a little critical of kokone though. I mean, she has the same costume and comes equipped with a mic but i can't convince myself that she actually performed here. She moved around and wasn't in anyone's way so that's a plus (compared to someone like 16 gen harima nanami who was a danger to herself and others on stage.) i am sending kokone "ganbatte!" 17ki at JAM EXPO 2022 Setlist: M00. Overture M01. Oogoe Diamond (Sato Airi center) M02. Everyday, Kachuusha (Mizushima Miyuu center) MC M03. Saikyo Twintail (Yamazaki Sora center) M04. Kimi no Koto ga Suki Dakara (Hasegawa Niina center) MC M05. #SukiNanda (Sato Airi center) They did well, especially their live singing is on point. My most favourite part is Saikyo Twintail with Sorara center, I always love Saikyo Twintail and Sorara-Twintail definitely killed it.
