I can't connect to LJ...it gives me an error when I try to post on blog48. I thought it was down for everyone then, but I'm seeing other posts go up on the community, so is it just my computer acting weird? ._____.;; I can't even get it to load at all in Firefox, I have to use another browser...

happens to me sometimes, though I don't know if it's the case. ^^

    PS: I posted!, yay!.

We have a list of blogs which were initially claimed, but would it be possible to have some kind of more up to date list ?

I am quite sure not all claimed blogs are regularly translated. It would be easier for potential new translators (or old ones) to know what are the "free" blogs in order to propose their help ...

I sure wasn't talking about taking blogs away from people [shock] ... I was thinking more about asking each translator periodically if they are still ok with following their blogs ...
And this was more a thing to add to a 'to do list' or something ...

But the fact that you re actualizing at least partially the list is answer enough :p

And anyway, I don't have time, tools or desire to do this kind of managing.

I just noticed that Tanabe Miku doesn't have a tag.

    Is her blog being translated?

I'm posting only to rant a bit ;)

I just lost contact with LJ in the middle of a translation ... This is becoming ... 面倒くさい ...

Edit: it seems my connection with LJ came back ...

It's worst if you don't backup what you did and the "restore from the previous saved" thing only "restores" the TITLE... =/

of course it's way worst when a 6 line blog post costs you about 2 hours and a half of work/compare/meditation/analysis... =/

If you're doing something that's taking two hours, you should probably be doing it on your computer in notepad or word etc and saving it as you go...

Yeah, I always translate in a text editor first, personally. Then I just copy/paste.

Thirding the translating in a text editor first idea. I keep a textedit file for my translations and copy/paste into LJ, it's a lot better than losing your work if LJ goes down.

I tried the text editor (Word) method, but I had weird bugs in the appearances of my posts on LJ ...
So now, I'm translating on LJ and saving before validation, in case ... But sometimes I'm loosing connection with LJ, and it then becomes difficult or impossible to add links or pictures ...

Could anyone give me the name of an appropriate text editor ?

    @Gobolino : I don't know if it's dedication or masochism, but it's impressive :p
In my case, the main difficulties are with English : I'm spending too much time looking for words in English or thinking about a way to say things ...
A post I read in 5-10 min (a 50-70 lines one like those of mocchii these days) will take me about 80 or 90 min to translate in English when it would take me less than half that to do this in French (but then almost nobody on this planet would be reading the translation ...) ... ;)

When you're translating it into Word, do you still use HTML code for images and links and such? If you paste the images in directly however Word does it, it won't work properly. Just type it exactly how you would into LJ.
Personally I use TextEdit, but if you're on a Windows, Wordpad is pretty good. Light programs that don't have too many extra features are better for me.

I know html (and xhtml too), but this almost but not quite html version is more annoying than helpful for me ...
But I'll try to get how it works ... maybe ...

What I do (when I remember to do the translation "outside" LJ) is:

    1) Make the translation, and instead of a pic, I put: " (a) "
    as:

    2) Save the pics from the blog and name it as the date + letter, and uploaded to photobucket.
    ex:
    200311a
    200311b
    200311c

    3) Then I switch to the "HTML" editor in LJ and paste the full translation from step 1.

    4) Title and tag.

    5) In the HTML editor I insert the 200311a pic (has a button at the upper right for that.

    6) Usually it goes to the bottom so I replace it to the right zone.

    7) add an width="350" to the code of the pic.

    8) Paste and paste and paste in all pic zones replacing just the late letter.
    as:
img............ 200311a instead of the (a) in step 1.
paste the same code and replace the "a" for a "b" instead of the (b)
paste the same code and replace the "a" for a "c" instead of the (c) and so on...

    Everything great.

problem was that steps 2-8 take 4 minutes and step 1 takes about 3 hours.

    =/

What do you guys think about linking up a twitter account with blog48? So people can get automatic updates through twitter? I'd do it...I'm just not sure how to set it up...
