General Information

Heavy Rotation is AKB48's 17th major single, 19 overall. This single features the Senbatsu members elected by the fans in the 2nd Senbatsu Election, with Oshima Yuko as center of the single.

This single is by far one of the most-promoted singles AKB48 has released, with all songs having some kind of tie-in, and 3 of them being nationwide ad campaigns (see Trivia). The song continues to be one of AKB48's most performed songs.

  • First AKB48 Single to rank 1# in the Chaku-uta (tune) daily and weekly charts

  • According to AKB48 staff member Yuasa Junji, the 1234! at the start of the song was just a placeholder in the demo to count the members in at the right time. However, choreographer Makino Anna did not realize this and included it in the choreography. It was then added to the final song.
  • The MV was filmed over two days & nights. Senbatsu members had other schedules on top of filming, and several girls fell asleep on set.
