during the Surprise wa Arimasen concert, The Team Pigg Unit Battle (AKB48 チームピグ指名戦, AKB48 Team Pigg Shimeisen) was announced. all the 48 Members from AKB48 (excluding Shinoda Mariko who couldn't participate for Contractual Restrictions with another company and Ono Erena who announced her graduation later on during the 3rd Show) were divided into 10 different units and were given 10 different songs.
during the last week of July, 10 special "support items" (one per unit) were released through Ameba Pigg. the unit to gain more purchases of their item was selected as Team Pigg, and will take charge of all the AKB promotions related with Ameba Pigg in the future and most importantly, the winning team will have their song as one of the c/ws of AKB48's 18th Single to be released on late October.

the results were announced at Ameba Pigg's Tokyo Dome on August 9th. anyone who bought the special ticket (price: 10 ame) from the Vending Machines of AKB's School Ground was able to be present at the Ceremony.
almost 1 million votes were counted (997,588) and the top 5 was revealed:
5# - Saly Akimoto: 100,374 votes.
4# - U: 104, 635 votes.
3# - GIRLS · ING: 108,575 votes.
2# - LOVE COMPANY: 116,254 votes.
1# - MINT: 134,918 votes.

Trivia
- since this competence was announced before Ono Erena announced her graduation, at first no reason was given as why she didn't took part of it. Fans eventually understood when she announced her graduation during the next show of the concert.
