Her mother wanted to be an idol herself when she was young. Her mother encouraged her to audition and gave her tips on how to talk maturely.
She was also called "Anmi" or "Jomon" by members. "Jomon" comes from the Jomon people, who were known for their pottery with net-like patterns. The word "Ami" also means "net".
She has a strong and competitive personality.
She was in the basketball club in shcool.
She fractured a bone in her leg during a performance shortly after the 5th Generation debuted, but she still willed herself to dance Oki Doki and SKE48 using one leg to hop.
At first, she claimed to be a baka (idiot) character, saying she had trouble with multiplication. However, as time went on, other members pointed out she is actually very perceptive and reads a lot of books. Eventually she stopped calling herself a baka, since it became clear that she is actually not one.
Many of the 6th Generation members have said Ami is their favorite senior.
She didn't do gravure until she was given a center position for 12gatsu no Kangaroo. At that point she thought she should do it for the sake of the group.
- A few months before this, she had ranked 3rd place in AKB48 Shirabe's survey of 240 48 Group members regarding "best chests". Many members voted for her, and when Matsui Jurina mentioned that Ami had never done a swimsuit shoot because she disliked them, staff and fans realized that Ami had never done gravure.
