- Her official nickname was Sayaka, but she was often called Sayanee (from onee-san, meaning older sister).
- She has two older brothers (5 and 2 years older) and one older sister (4 years older).
- She has a pet toy poodle named Neon. Neon's name appears in Sayaka's twitter handle, "SayakaNeon".
- The name was chosen after a character of in manga "Flame of Recca".
- Her childhood dream was to be a nursery school teacher or a dancer.
- She began singing and dance lessons in second grade after she and her sister signed with the agency Little Cat. She also practiced piano, guitar, and went to a cram school.
- She was voted class president all the way from fifth grade to first year of high school. Then she became student council president in her second year of high school.
- She attended an all-girls high school in Kyoto Prefecture.
- She was in the light music club in high school. She was not in any clubs in middle school.
- She has loved Japanese castles ever since visiting Kakegawa Castle in Shizuoka Prefecture in the second year of junior high school. She says she likes to experience the different smells of the castle with the wind. Her favorite castle is Matsumoto Castle in Nagano Prefecture because of its beauty and the way it captures the feelings of the people of that time.
- She was a member of the girls band MAD CATZ before joining NMB48. She played lead guitar.
- The group debuted under on March 19th, 2008 and disbanded at the end of 2009.
- Their debut single "Girls be Ambitious!" was used as the opening theme for BS Fuji's anime "Moegaku★5".
- Their coupling song "Sweet day's Light" became the CM image song for Quole Cosmetics k-palette series 1DAY TATOO, and the members served as image girls.
- She wrote the lyrics for their coupling song "Monochrome Map".
- She was also a member of a band called "Smile2Girls" when she was in elementary school.
- Her favorite guitar is the Ovation celebrity Model No.CP257, which she has been using since 6th grade.

- Her mother encouraged her to audition for NMB48 knowing that it could be an opportunity to become a singer in the future. Sayaka herself did not think she could be an idol, but took the audition anyway.
- She and Watanabe Miyuki were the original Centers of NMB48 and were often called SayaMilky.
- She was the oldest member of NMB48 from April 2nd, 2016 until her graduation on November 4th, 2018.
- She was the only member from NMB48 to rank in the 3rd Senbatsu Selection.
- She cut her hair short to show her determination after not making Senbatsu at the 4th Senbatsu Election. After ranking on 14th place at the 5th Senbatsu Election, she decided to let her hair grow long again.
- Other members often joked about the size of her chin.
- She has very fair skin and uses a lot of sunscreen products.
- She has a bad sense of direction and gets lost when she walks around outdoors.
- She prefers sleeping on futons rather than western-style beds.
- She has seven ear piercings, four on the left and three on the right.
- She wears 0.75 prescription contact lenses to correct her vision.
- She likes reading yaoi (boys-love) manga, ever since her older sister introduced her to it.

- She made a guest appearance at NMB48's 10 Year Anniversary Live Event on October 23, 2020.
- She is a Hanshin Tigers baseball team TORACO Support Captain since 2016.
- She is a membership ambassador for Sharp Corporation since 2017.
- From October 2020 to December 2021 she was a regular Monday navigator for the radio show SPARK.
- In December 2021, she was voted 3rd best singer and 5th best dancer out of all members of all 48 groups (voted by members).
- On November 19th, 2021 she went on hiatus due to poor physical condition. Then on March 25th, 2022 she informed fans that her hiatus was being caused by an imbalance in her thyroid gland. On July 14th, 2022, she announced that her thyroid disease had gone into remission and she resumed activities.
- On February 13th, 2023, announced her own company called SYCompany.
