Media Senbatsu is a term used to describe the members of the single's senbatsu that have priority to appear on music shows and to perform the song. Media Senbatsu members also appear more prominently on the song's music video and on the CD covers.

Media Senbatsu was popularly used in AKB48's Sousenkyo songs from 2009 to 2011, as the large senbatsu of 21 members could not fit onto a normal music show stage easily. Since 2012, Media Senbatsu isn't used for Sousenkyou songs anymore due to the decrease of senbatsu spots in the elections to only 16 spots. For other singles that have a very large number of senbatsu members (usually the Summer singles), Media Senbatsu is still commonly used.
