Sasaki Kumi is a member of Hinatazaka46's 1st Generation and the captain of the group. She is a "Ray" magazine exclusive model (from April 2019).

• She originally applied to become a Keyakizaka46 member because she was a fan of Nogizaka46.
  • She considered auditioning for the first Keyakizaka46 audition, but ultimately thought it was impossible for her to pass. She regretted not auditioning soon after. Later, she learned about the Hiragana Keyakizaka46 audition while watching Keyakitte, Kakenai? and signed up.
  • She kept her application a secret from her parents, who were against pursuing jobs in the entertainment industry. When she progressed to the third round and began streaming on SHOWROOM as part of the audition process, she told her parents. Her mother was furious, but her father encouraged her. Now both of her parents support her activities.
• She is Hinatazaka46's eldest member.
• She was announced as the Captain of Hiragana Keyakizaka46 on SHOWROOM on June 3rd, 2018.
• She is close friends with Kato Shiho. Their duo is called "KikuToshi", as "Kiku-chan" is occasionally used as a nickname for Kumi.
• She shares a family name with Sasaki Mirei. On many Hinatazaka46 programs where they both appear, they are referred to by first name only ("Kumi" and "Mirei") while other members are referred to by their family names.
• She can play trumpet. She performed Whiteberry's "Summer Festival" on trumpet on Keyakitte, Kakenai?.
  • She did brass band club activities all the way through high school.

• She worked part-time as a receptionist for a cram school before becoming an idol.

2016

• On May 11th, passed the auditions to become a member of Hiragana Keyakizaka46's 1st Generation.

2018

• On June 3rd, was appointed as captain of Hiragana Keyakizaka46. Her position would carry on when the group renamed to Hinatazaka46.

2019

• On February 11th, it was announced that Hiragana Keyakizaka46 would become a new independent group, Hinatazaka46. Kumi would therefore become part of Hinatazaka46's 1st Generation.
• On February 13th, was appointed as exclusive model for Cancam.
• In February, performed in the stageplay Zambi - Theater's End as a member of Team Green.

2020

• Starting from October 29th, was the MC for the program Mieru. The last episode aired on September 28th 2021.

2021

• Starting from October 6th, was the MC for the program 2fun59byou. The last episode aired on October 20th 2022.

2022

• On March 27th, started her Instagram account.

2023

• In November, was appointed center for Hinatazaka46 2nd album lead song, Kimi wa 0 Kara 1 ni Nare.

2024

• Starting from April, was the MC for Sports Real & Live.
• Starting from April, was the host for Logisteed Radionomics.
• On June 7, threw the ceremonial first pitch for the Yomiuri Giants vs Orix Buffaloes game.
