    • Her homeroom teacher was very supportive of her activities. Sadly they passed away on August 8th, 2015, and never got to see Maria perform as an idol. Team 8 did not have a concert in Gunma until 4 months after that.
  • After joining AKB48 she would try to not talk about her idol life with her friends because she didn’t want them to think she was using her idol status to feel superior. She even began to sit alone during lunch in her second year of high school, to avoid making her friends feel like they had to spend time with her on the rare days she could attend school.
  • She developed a phobia against men (especially men in school uniforms) due to being called ugly on the way to school in her first year of high school. She confessed that she had a hard time in the beginning of her AKB48 career interacting with male fans at handshake events. Fortunately it has gotten easier over time.

  • She was a member of the korokke team in the AKB48 Cooking Senbatsu Competition.
