Produce 48 was a Korean reality survival show and is the third season of the Produce 101 series. The difference between the first and second seasons of the show and this one is that for the first time, all Japanese 48 group members are able to join the show.

The show was announced at the Mnet Asian Music Awards in Japan on November 29, 2017 by Akimoto Yasushi after a joint performance of PICK ME, Heavy Rotation and Koisuru Fortune Cookie.

Over the course of the show, candidates will be eliminated according to viewer votes until only 12 remain. These 12 will then go on to debut as a new group in both Japan and Korea. The show announced the final 12 members who would debut as well as the official group name IZONE on its finale on August 31, 2018.
