+ | * Her official nicknames were "Kojiharu" and "Haruna". She was also called "Nyan Nyan" by [[Maeda Atsuko]], [[Oshima Yuko]], and [[Takahashi Minami]], "Nyaro" by [[Shinoda Mariko]], "Kojipa" by [[Akimoto Sayaka]], and "Kojimaru" by [[Watanabe Mayu]].
+ | * She is the eldest child of her family. She has a younger brother named Ryo.
+ | * Her mother chose her name "Haruna" with the hope that she would grow up as bright as the sun. Her name contains the kanji for sun (陽).
+ | * She has loved singing ever since she was a child. When she was young she would make a "stage" at home with couch cushions and since "Inu no Owari-san" endlessly.
+ | * She liked Sailor Moon when she was young and her favorite character was Chibiusa. However, her friend at school said she didn't suit Chibiusa because she was so tall.
+ | * She wanted to become an idol after seeing the idol group Checkicco on TV. She also admired the female vocal/dance group SPEED and wanted to be a performer like them.
+ | * Before joining AKB48 she belonged to Stardust Promotion and appeared on BS Asahi's idol program "Harajuku Launchers".
+ | * She was in the English club in junior high school. She chose it because she had been watching foreign movies at the time, and did not want to have to join an athletic club instead.
+ | * Though she always wanted to be a singer, she briefly considered becoming a secretary because she thought the job sounded nice.
+ | * She was a fan of Morning Musume for many years.
+ | ** When she saw the poster for AKB48's 1st Generation audition, she was inspired to participate because the poster contained a quote by Natsu Mayumi, a former choreographer for Morning Musume. Natsu Mayumi's quote said "doesn't this audition sound great!".
+ | ** She was partly motivated to keep attending the subsequent audition rounds because she wanted to meet Natsu Mayumi.
+ | ** Her Morning Musume oshimen was Michishige Sayumi.
+ | ** She once said she would have rather joined Morning Musume than AKB48.
+ | * After passing the AKB48 audition she missed the first day of lessons because she was at her other part-time job. Management told her that she would need to quit her job to focus on AKB48. She was skeptical at first, wondering how much of a commitment AKB48 would be, but eventually agreed.
+ | * She dropped out of high school at the age of 16 due to her school not allowing students to work in entertainment industry.
+ | * [[Minegishi Minami]] was the first AKB48 member Haruna became close with.
+ | * She was best friends with [[Komatani Hitomi]] while Hitomi was an AKB48 member.
+ | * She was often called an "airhead", or even "dumb", on variety shows and in media. However, she said that this isn't true, and she has a good awareness of her surroundings. She is good at observing others and knowing the flow of how a conversation or event will go.
+ | ** Minegishi Minami confirmed this, saying that Haruna is "someone who pretends to not be thinking of anything, but really is thinking carefully".
+ | ** Former theater manager Togasaki Tomonobu even called her a "genius, with strong sense of professionalism".
+ | * She describes her personality as calm and mentally tough. [[Oshima Yuko]] said she is fearless.
+ | * She was regarded by fans as a "beauty idol", and complimented on her good skin complexion and figure. [[Maeda Atsuko]] called her the "beauty representative of AKB48".
+ | * She is bad at sports and exercise. On an episode of [[AKB 0ji 59fun!]] her physical age was scored to be 95 years old.
+ | * She does not read manga at all.
+ | * She loves horse racing and has good success when betting on horses.
+ | * Her room is notoriously messy. This was first leaked by [[Shinoda Mariko]], who was the only AKB48 member to visit Haruna's house at the time.
+ | * Her autograph mimics a girl with hairstyle spelled "Haruna".
+ | * For many years her grandfather did not realize she was an idol. He contacted her once and said, "there is a girl on TV with the same name as you!"
+ | * She is a fan of the American drama "Gossip Girl".
+ | * She would like to visit Egypt someday.
+ | * In a segment in [[AKBINGO!]], she said that the only thing she dislikes is milk.
+ | * She has been a model for the lingerie company Peach John since February 2013.
+ | * In October 2012 she became the second AKB48 member to exceed 1 million followers on Twitter, after [[Shinoda Mariko]].
+ | * From May 2016 to her graduation in April 2017, she was the oldest member of the 48/46 Group franchise, as well as the only remaining member born during the Showa era.
+ | * She got her first solo center in AKB48's 33rd single, [[Heart Ereki]]
+ | * Up until [[Shoot Sign]], she was the only Senbatsu positions that she was not in were [[Eien Pressure]], [[Kimi no Hohoemi wo Yume ni Miru]], and [[Halloween Night]].
+ | * Before [[Eien Pressure]], she had the record of being the only first generation AKB48 member to be present on every A-side single (from [[Skirt, Hirari]] up to [[UZA]]).
+ | * In 2018 she founded her own fashion brand "[https://www.herlipto.jp/ Her lip to]".

- Before joining AKB48 she belonged to Stardust Promotion and appeared on BS Asahi's idol program "Harajuku Launchers".
- She was in the English club in junior high school. She chose it because she had been watching foreign movies at the time, and did not want to have to join an athletic club instead.
- Though she always wanted to be a singer, she briefly considered becoming a secretary because she thought the job sounded nice.
- She was a fan of Morning Musume for many years.

- Her Morning Musume oshimen was Michishige Sayumi.
- She once said she would have rather joined Morning Musume than AKB48.
- After passing the AKB48 audition she missed the first day of lessons because she was at her other part-time job. Management told her that she would need to quit her job to focus on AKB48. She was skeptical at first, wondering how much of a commitment AKB48 would be, but eventually agreed.

- She was often called an "airhead", or even "dumb", on variety shows and in media. However, she said that this isn't true, and she has a good awareness of her surroundings. She is good at observing others and knowing the flow of how a conversation or event will go.
- Minegishi Minami confirmed this, saying that Haruna is "someone who pretends to not be thinking of anything, but really is thinking carefully".
- Former theater manager Togasaki Tomonobu even called her a "genius, with strong sense of professionalism".
- She describes her personality as calm and mentally tough. Oshima Yuko said she is fearless.
- She was regarded by fans as a "beauty idol", and complimented on her good skin complexion and figure. Maeda Atsuko called her the "beauty representative of AKB48".

- She does not read manga at all.
- She loves horse racing and has good success when betting on horses.
- Her room is notoriously messy. This was first leaked by Shinoda Mariko, who was the only AKB48 member to visit Haruna's house at the time.
- Her autograph mimics a girl with hairstyle spelled "Haruna".
- For many years her grandfather did not realize she was an idol. He contacted her once and said, "there is a girl on TV with the same name as you!"

- She would like to visit Egypt someday.
- In a segment in AKBINGO!, she said that the only thing she dislikes is milk.

- In October 2012 she became the second AKB48 member to exceed 1 million followers on Twitter, after Shinoda Mariko.
