AKB48 WORLD was a mobile and gacha card game. It was created by Takeonecompany and distrubuted by Mizzi Inc., released in Japan, Korea and select Asian countries on September 9th, 2021.

On December 19th, 2023, the game went out of service.

Synopsis

There is a small theater in Akihabara, Tokyo. I stopped nearby to meet girls full of dreams and hopes. That is when I developed a dream to become AKB48's producer. On this day, I took a step towards my dream. And I met her...

Story

After going to the AKB48 theater in Akihabara, you run into a young girl. She is just starting her first day as a staff member at the theater. You, the producer of AKB48, ask her if she ever thought of becoming an idol, but she denies it. One day, you catch her performing amazingly on stage by herself and ask her once again, when she admits that she would love to be an idol. You talk to other managers and make it your goal to make her stand on AKB48's stage.

Game Play

  • Story Mode: You click through the story as you read members' dialogue and occasionally interact with them.
    • There is a main story mode, a team story mode and a secret story mode featuring your oshimen.
  • Live: Out of the gacha cards you have drawn, you put together a selection of 4 members to perform on stage. One to four members can perform a special skill - it is random, but the chosen center will always perform.
    • Having 4 members of one team will give you a 5% boost.
    • Having 4 members wearing the same costume will give you a 5% boost.
    • The four types of skills a member can have are Singing, Dance, Variety and Fashion. Story-based lives will often favour a certain skill.
    • Members can express their skill in one of three ways:
      1. Percentage increase of their own skill (e.g. "35% increase on variety for herself")
      2. Percentage increase for members of the same team for one skill (e.g. "14% increase on fashion for members of Team A")
      3. Percentage increase for members of the same team for all values (e.g. "10% increase on all skills for members of Team K")
      4. Percentage decrease for members of an opposing team for one skill (e.g. "25% decrease on singing for members of Team B")
    • Increasing the skill for all values is a very rare skill. Members who possess this skill are, for example Okada Nana's SSR card using the AKB48 uniform and Kashiwagi Yuki's SSR card using the AKB48 uniform.
  • Improving your cards:
    • Level Up: Use other cards and coins in order to level up your cards. The maximum base level for SSR cards is 50, maximum level for SR cards is 40, and for R and N, it is level 30.
    • Awaken: When you have maxed out your cards, you can awaken them. For this, you need team-specific crystals. When a card has been awakened, the maximum level increases.
    • Skill Improvement: Here you can improve the percentage boost for the member's skill. E.g. by leveling up the skill, a member would move from 33% increase to 35%. Skills can be leveled up 5 times if the card has not been awakened. It can be increased to 10 times if the card is awakened. This is only applicable to SSR and SR cards.
    • Talent flowering: When you have a duplicate version of an SSR or SR card, you can combine them. This adds a star symbol to the card and increases all stats.
  • Production: When reaching producer level 25, you will gain access to 'production.' You can call members into the office and have them complete either a singing performance, a dance performance, a fashion show or a variety show appearance. They gain experience which will be applied to all their cards to increase their stats. Depending on your production level, you can invite up to 8 members. When reaching production level 25, the XP gained from this work increases. When reaching production level 50, the XP gained increases again.
  • Gacha: Here you can pull new cards in exchange for diamonds or coins. The general diamond and coin pulls are always available, but there are events with special cards available. Sometimes only bought diamonds can be used (rather than those earned through completing missions).
  • Smartphone: Here you can view social media posts made by members and comment on them, text members or have phone calls with them.
  • Oshimen: Here you can give your oshimen gifts in order to increase her affection towards you. When her level increases, she will act differently on the home screen (moving from bored-looking to being excited). You can also change your oshimen every 24 hours.
    • There are various types of gifts. Cinema tickets will give an extra affection bonus to Team A members, fruit baskets give an exta bonus to Team K members, bento boxes give an extra bonus to Team B members, comic books give an extra bonus to Team 4 members and cameras give an extra bonus to Team 8 members.
    • There are also member-specific gifts. They can only be given to a specific member and have higher bonuse.
    • By reaching affection levels 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25, you unlock member-specific stories.
