- She was born in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. She moved to Tokyo at age six, and says she does not remember living in Fukuoka at all.
- She has an older sister and a younger sister.
- Her older sister worked as a gravure idol under the name Kizuki Jui, and as an idol in the group Girl s ACTRY under the name Takajo Jui.
- She was in her school's tennis club in middle school and high school. She quit during the final year of high school to focus on AKB48 activities.
- She worked part-time at a family restaurant and pizzeria in her first year of high school. She eventually became too busy with school club activities and quit her jobs.
- She has been a fan of AKB48 since the release of Skirt, Hirari.
- She decided to audition for AKB48 because she wanted to become an actress like Matsushima Nanako.
- She was described as a "super natural airhead" by other members. However, Kuramochi Asuka and Kashiwagi Yuki said that surprisingly, Aki does think things through properly.
- Miyazaki Miho shared a story of Aki's airheadedness, saying that one day she noticed Aki's face was very red. When she asked what was wrong, Aki replied "I forgot how to breathe".
- She describes herself as tsundere. Ironically in AKBINGO! she was part of a recurring skit called "Rookie Idol Harunatsu Aki - The Double-Personality Idol" in which she played a yandere character who was sweet on the outside, but secretly cruel.
- She is bad at academics and studying. In an academic test on Shukan AKB, she ranked lowest of all members, with only 25 out of 300 points.
- She is bad at kanji and katakana. In 2009 she claimed to only know around 50 kanji.
- Urano Kazumi once scolded her for not being able to read the kanji for 目的 (mokuteki goal, objective) 訓練 (kunren training). Aki was reading off of a script, and could not read these words.
- She says that she instead focuses on athletics, and won't be beaten when it comes to sports.
- She says she is only average in singing and dancing. Out of 10 points, she ranks herself a 5 in both categories.
- Her oshimen are Noro Kayo and Kojima Haruna, and she respects Shinoda Mariko.
- Her theater debut was as Kojima Haruna's under for a Team A 5th Stage performance.
- At 71 days, she was the fastest Kenkyuusei to be promoted in history until SKE48's Azuma Rion was promoted in April 2013.
- In October 2010 she released her first solo DVD, Akicha to Kyoro, which included gravure content. In bonus footage for the DVD she talked with her sister Jui, who was also working as an idol at the time.
- In December 2010 she participated in a tennis tournament with Shimada Haruka on Nashin TV.
- In 2012, she created buzz online after appearing in an AKB48 Music Station performance despite having visibly rough skin on her face. She explained she was fighting a combination of acne and hay fever (seasonal alergies) at the time.
- She is good at cooking. Her specialty is nikujaga.
- She likes looking at refrigerators in home goods stores.
- She has a tendency to chew food with her front teeth.
- She is known to have poor pronunciation and stumbling on her words, especially when reading from scripts.
