During the [[19th Single Janken Senbatsu Tournament |1st Janken Taikai]], she hid her face from the solo cameraman who had been assigned to her, saying she was ugly and did was not wearing makeup yet. The cameraman was confused by this. As a father himself, he said that if he heard his daughter call herself ugly he would be heartbroken. Rie apologized to him and said she would no longer call herself ugly. | ||

- She has a habit of saying the words dakeredo (だけれど "but"), choichoi (ちょいちょい "a little bit" ), and kekkou (だけっこう "quite/pretty"). When it comes to kekkou, she emphasizes the "ke" rather than the "ko" sound. This is not the standard pronunciation, but is slightly more common in Aichi prefecture where she is from.
- In 2012 she participated in the reality TV show "Terrace House" in which she would briefly live in a house with other men and women. Her participation created buzz online, as some fans were happy for her appearing on a popular television show, while others were upset about the romantic aspect of the show and that she would be living with men.
- She is a former member of the fake idol group "SONE" with Minegishi Minami, Sashihara Rino and Miyazaki Miho, that regularly participated on Request Hour MCs. They "disbanded" in 2014.
- On AKBINGO! she shared that her dream is to date a bass guitar player. She has even created a fantasy situation in which she is the singer in a band, and the bassist, guitarist, and drummer all have feelings for her.
- She created many fantasy (mousou) scenarios during her time as an AKB48 member, such as a fantasy to “meet up with a boyfriend in Shimokitazawa on a cold February afternoon and visit an indie movie theater together”.
