They performed songs for the disaster-stricken community. Sakura wrote a long post on Google+ describing the day, including details about a woman whose son had died. The woman's son had been the same age as Sakura and was an AKB48 fan. The members signed a message for him and talked with his mother. Reflecting on the conversation, Sakura wrote "As for the lady, she was smiling the whole time she was talking. She encouraged us while we were crying. We were there to deliver energy, but instead, were the ones who got to smile. After that, we went to a place that had been damaged by the tsunami. There was really nothing there. The place, which used to be a residential area, looked like nothing more than a shadowless field. There was a small hill in the center of the field, and there was a place to pray for the earliest possible recovery from the disaster. Looking around from that hill, there was nothing, to the extent you'd think there had been an air raid. Nothing. There are too many things I learned from my visit to the disaster area to write about. And there is one thing I realized. I am sure it was just scattered glass, but the soil was sparkling. The tsunami took many lives and saddened many people, but the sea was sparkling. I think there must be a deep scar somewhere in their hearts, but everyone's smiles and eyes were sparkling. The disaster area was sparkling. The affected areas are now moving slowly but surely, step by step, toward recovery. I will cherish each and every day from tomorrow onward and try my best to live without regrets. I pray for the earliest possible recovery of the affected areas." The following day AKB48 producer [[Akimoto Yasushi]] commented on it, saying "I want the generation of Miyawaki Sakura to be the ones to sing [[Dareka no Tame ni ~What can I do for someone?~ (Song)|Dareka no Tame ni ~What can I do for someone?~]], generating buzz online. | ||

I pray for the earliest possible recovery of the affected areas." The following day AKB48 producer Akimoto Yasushi commented on it, saying "I want the generation of Miyawaki Sakura to be the ones to sing Dareka no Tame ni ~What can I do for someone?~, generating buzz online.
