Overview
- 48 Group's first overseas-based sister group.
- Since May, their current group captain is Shania Gracia.
Differences from sister groups
- Since Indonesia is in the Islamic world and Muslims occupy about 90%, JKT48 tends to value Islamic culture. During Ramadan, regular performances are suspended and related events are held at the JKT48 Theater and other venues. Also, during that period, costumes such as not showing bare feet will be considered.
- On April 8, 2018 was announced that the trainee system will be replaced by a new one called Academy. JKT48 will determine the amount of members to be 16 members for each teams. Trainee will be splitted into two levels, Member Academy Class A where the students are ready to become a backup team member in various performances, and Member Academy Class B where students learn various things about idols and prepare to rise to Class A. This system is currently not in force, the group returned to its old Trainee system.
- On February 2, 2021, the management announced that due to the impacts of COVID-19 that teams J, KIII, T and Academy would all be disbanded. Only 33 members will remain and the ones who were left would no longer be split into teams, simply belonging to JKT48.
