- She began learning hip hop dance in third grade. She also took lessons in English and swimming.
- In elementary school her teachers commented, "she is the type of person to pick up trash when they notice it in the hallways, even when others won't".
- She travels and sleeps with a large brown pillow called "Brown-Mama".
- She was a member of the unofficial SKE48 2D fan club.
- She was the youngest member of the SKE48 1st Generation.
- She and Matsui Rena were the original Centers of SKE48. The were often called WMatsui (pronounced "Double Matsui”), as they shared the same last name.

- She often made puns during TV shows and MCs, and both of her catchphrases included a pun.
- On the cover of AKB48's single Oogoe Diamond, she is photographed while she was shouting "Mariko-sama!"
- On the first day of AKB48's Fukuoka Dome performance, she broke her left index finger when it hit into a stage prop. She wore a cast over her finger for several weeks. After it was removed, she still had to wear a thick bandage over it, and as such she only used one hand during handshake events for a period of time.
- She usually wears contact lenses, but she wears glasses on private occasions.
- She has been praised by fellow members for having a pretty navel (belly button).
- Her best dishes to cook are fried rice and omurice.
- She is insecure about the large size of her hands.
- With the release of Chicken LINE in March 2016, she received her 23rd center position and broke the previously set record for most center positions across all 48/46 Groups previously held by Maeda Atsuko (22).
- As of her graduation in April 2021, she has had 27 A-side center positions, of which 16 are solo center positions and 11 are double center positions.
- As of her graduation in April 2021, she also holds the record for the most appearances in Senbatsu of 48/46 Groups with a total of 69 A-side appearances across all groups.
- She went on several health-related hiatuses during her time as a member. These include a hiatus from June 2018 to September 2018, immediately following her win at the 10th Senbatsu Election, and a hiatus from September 2019 to November 2019.
- She also experienced congested blood in her right eye in late 2013. She wore an eye patch on stage, but this worsened the condition, and she switched to wearing glasses until early 2014.
- She participated on Produce48, but withdrew after Episode 5 due to poor health. Note that she had ranked at #13 in the preliminary rankings of that episode.
- She said that if she could have one wish come true, it would be to never get sick or injured for the rest of her life.
